“To prevent hearing diseases, it is necessary to choose good over-ear headphones, avoid using cotton swabs and not use some over-the-counter medications,” said Svetlana Zimina.

According to the doctor, even the smallest hearing impairments negatively affect a person’s life, so it is very important to take precautions in advance to prevent hearing loss.

“Difficulties arise in communication, in intellectual development in childhood and in perceiving the world around us,” Zimina gave examples.

The doctor added that you should use quality over-ear headphones.

“Bad headphones can cause sudden changes in volume, which can cause acoustic trauma. “You should not listen to something with headphones frequently and the volume should not exceed 60% of the maximum,” explained the ear, nose and throat specialist.

“Cotton swabs often damage the eardrum or the skin of the ear canal. “You should not even try to remove wax plugs or foreign objects from the ear canal yourself,” said the doctor.
