In Japan, special vending machines have been installed that will provide free food and water in the event of an earthquake or typhoon. It has been reported Guard.
The first two machines were installed in the city of Ako, which, according to seismologists, is located in the most vulnerable area to earthquakes. Drink and food vending machines were placed next to buildings reserved for evacuation shelters. After an earthquake of five or greater on Japan’s seven-point seismic intensity scale, cars will be automatically “unlocked” if a heavy rain warning or evacuation order is issued.
A spokesperson for the vending company said their machine is the first of its kind in Japan, one of the world’s most seismically active countries, where increasingly powerful typhoons in recent years have caused widespread flooding and landslides. He added that in the future the company plans to supply such machines nationwide.
