Editorial policy
These are the rules we write by. They exist so that you can decide how much to trust what you read here.
What we publish
Practical, human food writing: home cooking, hosting, local food, regional food stories and the social side of eating. We do not publish news, press releases or text that we did not write or commission.
How articles are made
- Each article is written for a specific reader and a specific job: cook this, host that, understand this.
- Recipes and methods are written from real cooking experience and must be repeatable in a home kitchen.
- An editor reads every article before publication for accuracy, clarity and tone.
Health and safety
Food safety and health statements follow public guidance from health authorities such as Health Canada. We say where evidence is limited. Nothing here is medical advice.
Updates and corrections
Articles show a date. When we change something that matters, we update the date. If we make a significant correction, we say so on the page. To report an error, contact us.
Independence
We do not sell links and we do not publish sponsored posts. If we ever mention a product we have been given, we will say so at the top of the article.
About this site
