Encapsulated warriors

The Emporia awards for 2023 highlight creativity, innovation, and excellence in the design of temporary structures. For the Xi’an warriors, the jury emphasized the staging of terracotta sculptures housed in circular glass capsules with a mirrored ceiling. This arrangement lets visitors experience a 360-degree tour that reveals fine details, polychrome finishes, hair, clothing, and faces up close. The Xi’an warriors are legendary figures created more than two thousand two hundred years ago to accompany the First Emperor Qin on his journey to the afterlife, a story that continues to captivate audiences today.
