In a frank appearance on the program Evil Languages, Vlad Sokolovsky discussed how his health declined during the filming of New Stars in Africa. He explained that he had stomach troubles even before joining the show, but his condition worsened dramatically while he was part of the project, ultimately requiring hospitalization. The artist shared that doctors diagnosed him with peritonitis.

Peritonitis is a serious inflammation of the peritoneum caused by infection or contamination from germs, food, or intestinal contents. Sokolovsky emphasized that he was surprised by the initial reactions, noting that he did not expect the health of the participants to deteriorate so severely on the show.

“I watched an episode where the participants claimed I was pretending. It seems to me they grew uneasy when my appendix was removed in the hospital, six months later. That is when the peritonitis episode occurred,” the singer stated.

He attributed the decline in health to a combination of factors tied to the filming process, including extended periods of malnutrition and mounting anxiety during production on the reality series.

“Africa’s New Stars” is described as an extreme reality show in which celebrities face harsh conditions and limited resources in a wild savannah setting. The program airs with hosts Olga Buzova and Mikhail Galustyan guiding the challenges and keeping pace with the participants’ strenuous experiences.

Earlier reports noted that Victoria Daineko had raised concerns about illness and symptoms of poisoning during production, adding to the ongoing narrative around health risks on combatting reality formats.

These disclosures underscore the physical and emotional pressures contestants may encounter on high-intensity television projects. They also highlight how viewers respond to portrayals of hardship and resilience on celebrity-driven reality programming [Source: Entertainment News, 2024].
