Singer Valery Leontyev’s planned Dubai performance has been cancelled, according to a Telegram channel titled “Dubai. Report.” The channel notes that the cancellation is unexplained, and the show, which had been scheduled for May 2024, will not go ahead in Dubai.
The Telegram report adds that Leontyev’s return to the stage will occur in Russia, and likely after the end of the current security operation period, with corporate events being the most probable option until then. The absence of a Dubai appearance is presented as a change of venue rather than a cancellation of the artist’s tour plans altogether.
In January 2024, Leontyev did appear in Dubai at a private event, marking his first public engagement there since 2020. Reports from Kp.ru indicate the event drew a fee of about 10 million rubles and that the performance lasted under an hour, suggesting a brief, high‑profile appearance rather than a full concert run.
Earlier, in November, Boris Chigirev, who represents Leontyev, spoke about the possibility of continuing Leontyev’s career in 2024. He framed the year as a jubile year for the artist, who would turn 75 in March. While Chigirev stated that there were no confirmed concert plans, he left open the door for appearances at corporate events if the right opportunities arose.
A close friend of Leontyev, speaking at the start of January 2023, revealed that the artist had traveled to the United States and undergone two surgeries the previous year. The acquaintance also noted that the singer had largely remained at home, spending most of the time at the villa, which aligns with a period of reduced public performances and limited touring activity.
There has been prior public attention surrounding new material. Alla Pugacheva had promised to release new songs for Leontyev’s anniversary, adding to the sense that this period of Leontyev’s career is marked by significant personal milestones and reinvestigation of his artistic output, even as live performances have faced disruptions and schedule changes.
