Six universities from the Valencian Community will showcase audiovisual projects in Alicante during the fifth edition of the University Audio-Visual Talent, held for the first time at the University of Alicante. The event opens with short project presentations, each seven minutes long, organized by AU and highlighted as a key milestone for student creators entering the professional audiovisual sector.
The event featured students from the Master in Communication and Creative Industries (Comincrea). Guided by Claudia Ripoll, who previously organized the Retroalimentate de la Cultura festival, the conference aimed to create direct contact between university creativity and the producers, distributors, and platforms that drive the audiovisual industry forward. The names of some participating manufacturers and platforms remain to be announced, but the goal was clear: bridge academic talent with real-world opportunities.
This year, 31 projects were submitted. Eleven students attended the event, with a dozen finalists ultimately selected. Among them were two projects from UA: a five-part mini-series recounting the true story of a young woman facing a chronic illness and its impact on daily life, and Eixe indecisive, a romantic comedy aimed at younger audiences. The lineup demonstrated a mix of fiction, non-fiction, television formats, new media windows, radio, and branded content devoted to showcasing on a single day, June 1. The eight-hour shooting schedule took place in the German Bernácer Building auditorium, where professionals assessed the originality, narrative quality, and technical execution of each project.
Finally, a snapshot from the UA headquarters in Alicante captured the moment of yesterday’s presentation. This event highlighted the collaborative spirit and ambition of emerging audiovisual creators.
Parallel activities
Beyond the project presentations, a photography exhibition highlighting audiovisual productions across the Community of Valencia complemented the event. The exhibition featured works from artists and photographers, including Laia Lluch, with pieces presented in both black-and-white and color. Some works are scheduled to be released to the public in due course, adding a visual counterpoint to the live pitches.
After the shooting day concluded, a casual chat session titled Cafè i xarrada offered attendees a chance to hear from industry voices. Alvaro Robles and Jorge Hinojosa, filmmakers and screenwriters, shared insights. Robles, a former UA student, earned Best Animated Short at the 2022 Goya Awards and later received recognition for a short project at the eMove Festival in Madrid, highlighting the post-production and promotional journey behind acclaimed short films.
