During the 2021-2022 academic year, the Valencia Community Museums Consortium supported 29 projects in public education centers across the Valencian Community. Nine of these activities took place in the Alicante province as part of the artistic resistance program, which explores artistic processes within educational settings. The bidding process for the 2022-2023 edition has opened and will run until September 14.

Artistic resistance is a program created in 2016 by the Consortium of Museums. It merges the arts and education to foster collaborative environments in schools that encourage analysis, reflection, and contemporary artistic creation.

The program’s total budget has grown, reaching 448,000 euros, nearly doubling the previous edition which stood at 252,000 euros. This expansion supports more training centers across the autonomous region and the ongoing development of each project.

From nearly thirty projects selected across the Valencian Community in the most recent call, nine were implemented in the Alicante region in towns such as Xàbia, Beneixama, Guardamar del Segura, Alcoy, San Miguel de Salinas, Torrevieja, and Alicante, among others.

Since its launch in 2016, the program has stood out as a unique initiative in the Valencian Community and a reference within its category at the national level. Its aim is to bring contemporary art practices closer to school environments. Six years on, the program has seen growing participation and stronger support from teachers and students. José, a figure linked to Alicante, notes that the work carried out in the Valencia, Castellón, and Alicante regions over the past year has been of high quality, and it is rewarding to observe the progress of each project under the guidance of the Consorci de Museus. Luis Pérez Pont, director of the Consortium of Museums and Center del Carme de València, emphasizes the ongoing evolution of the initiative and its impact on cultural education in the region.
