The Cultural Institute of Alicante Juan Gil-Albert hosts a new session in its star gastronomy cycle, taking place this Wednesday at 19:30. The event features a lecture by the author Mari Paz Moreno, who will share her research on an unpublished 18th-century cookbook that unexpectedly came into her possession.

The focus is the Bull manuscript of the Holy Crusade. The talk explores the uncovering of the mystery surrounding this unpublished 18th-century cookbook. The session centers on the examination, definition, and analysis of a food manuscript associated with Mexico and a linked papal bull. The collection comprises fifty pages and fifty-eight recipes.

During the study, Moreno reviews the elements that aid dating the manuscripts, including recipes, ingredients, cooking methods, measurement units, and the script of the text. Attendees will learn how these aspects help establish provenance and context, as Moreno explains in the talk, which begins at 19:30 at the Casa Bardín campus of the institute. Attendance is free, but the space has limited seating.
