The body of Irina Slyusar, the founder of the St. Petersburg private puppet theatre Moose and Firefly, was reportedly found in Georgia. Fontanka reported the discovery.
Volunteers who located Irina asked that further details remain private. They extended their condolences to her family.
Five days earlier, in the Georgian Black Sea town of Kobuleti, Irina Slyusar, who started the Moose and Firefly Puppet Theater in St. Petersburg, was said to be missing at sea.
Initial accounts indicate that the 33-year-old was walking beside the water with a friend when a wave swept in and dragged a dog into the surf. The two moved to help, but Irina disappeared beneath the waves as they attempted a rescue.
Her friend escaped and received hospital treatment. Police and volunteers continued searching for the missing person through the following hours and days.
Irina Slyusar was born in Minsk and studied at the Belarusian State Academy of Arts. She later established the Moose and Firefly Puppet Theater, contributing to the city’s cultural landscape with family-friendly performances and puppetry arts.
