The TNT channel has announced the end of the improvisational comedy program Improvisation, signaling a shift in the channel’s strategic direction. Participants Anton Shastun, Arseniy Popov, Dmitry Pozov, Sergey Matvienko, and producer Stas Sheminov shared the news in a video message distributed through the official Improvisations Telegram channel.
In the message, the team explained that TNT is discontinuing its Improvisation and the broader Improvisation program in line with a new strategy. They promised fans that all previously produced shows, online projects, concerts, meetings, and tours would not disappear but would be reimagined. The group reassured viewers that they would continue to appear in new projects and will explore fresh formats, while keeping the elements that audiences already love intact.
The comedians indicated they had known about the decision since September, noting that the specific nature of television production prevented earlier public disclosure. Their explanation highlighted the practical realities of a fast-moving TV environment and the timing of such strategic changes.
Improvisation has run on TNT for eight seasons, beginning in 2016. Across more than 200 episodes, the show welcomed a wide range of guest stars, including public figures and entertainers such as Olga Buzova, Danya Milokhin, Yegor Creed, Valeria, Iosif Prigozhin, Maxim Fadeev, Polina Gagarina, Yuri Galtsev, Maxim Galkin, Mitya Fomin, Sergey Lazarev, Mikhail Galustyan, and others. The program relied on unscripted scenes crafted by the hosts and guests in the moment, without prior preparation, creating spontaneous humor and interactions that defined the series for many viewers.
As the curtain falls on this chapter, TNT also announced the start of a new comedy initiative called These Are Miniatures on TNT4, signaling the network’s ongoing commitment to experimental humor and fresh formats. Although Improvisation will no longer air in its familiar form, the channel has expressed a clear intent to continue delivering laugh-filled content and to nurture new talent alongside established performers.
