Incredible Tiny Edition of The Captain’s Daughter Enters Library Collections

Anatoly Konenko, renowned for microminiature book art, crafted the smallest edition of Alexander Pushkin’s classic tale The Captain’s Daughter and donated it to the Orenburg Library. This remarkable feat was reported by TASS, citing Igor Khramov, president of the Orenburg Eurasian Charity Foundation. Konenko’s creation measures an astonishing 48 by 32 millimeters, and the miniature images that accompany the text were also drawn by the master himself. The Orenburg Library’s holdings now include 478 copies of The Captain’s Daughters, rendered in forty-two languages for cultural exchange and study across the globe.

Pushkin remains a towering name in children’s literature. In recent years, he has joined Korney Chukovsky and Elena Ul’eva as one of the top three most-published authors in the field, a testament to the enduring appeal of his work for young readers and families alike.

Fans of Russian animation can look forward to a screen return on August 24. The classic poem by Pushkin will inspire a new feature film adaptation of the cartoon Ruslan and Lyudmila. This project reimagines the 1820 work for modern audiences, tracing the tale of the daring Ruslan and his quest to rescue Grand Duke Lyudmila’s daughter from the clutches of the villainous sorceress Chernomor just before her wedding. The adaptation promises updated animation techniques while preserving the timeless enchantment of the original narrative.

Earlier reports mentioned a shift in the performance lineup: a production featuring Britney Spears songs was slated for removal due to attendance numbers, reflecting audience interests and program planning adjustments in the performing arts calendar.
