He did it with Bacanal in 2021, and now he repeats the feat with Requiem, the final symphony. A Circus of Fear unfolds—an audacious journey that looks back at the past, examines the present, and hands the future to new voices. The production will greet audiences shortly, launching with a world premiere in Alicante, and then traveling through several Spanish cities before reaching Madrid and kicking off an international tour on September 6.

This is the view to watch in Alicante through September 24, along Avenida Doctor Rico, where the company’s creator and master of ceremonies, Suso Silva, continues to astonish audiences after nearly two decades on stage. With over three million viewers across different countries and the National Circus Award in 2003 under his belt, Silva shares, through this show, a bold declaration: “This is my last parody, my last performance… and I go on stage with my inner life exposed and my outer world laid bare.”

The universe of Horror Circus

The lament evolves into a final symphony as Alicante becomes a map of the troupe’s memories. In this wild universe, the Circus of Horrors revisits a haunted graveyard, an apocalyptic world, and a curious blend of enlightenment and fear, voiced by the luminous performer Juanjo Llorens.

Suso Silva, more introspective than ever, uses El Circo de los Horrores to introduce alter egos. The clown as mastermind crafts and expands the company’s eerie world through inventive scenarios and an old typewriter. From this dark, anarchic, Machiavellian figure, other terrifying characters emerge, probing the core of the Circus: Nosferatu, the archetype of beasts and rites, embodies human fear with humor and terror, guiding the audience to the deepest corners of the show. The Crowned Fool, wry, corrupt, and cunning, shapes the clown’s dreams and madness into the heart of the performance. A cousin of Hell, the King of the Circus Asylum, and Lucifer himself merge into a figure who brokers souls for fame, money, sex, and power—pulling spectators toward the temple of sin, a space without rules or taboos.

Suso Silva, holder of the National Circus Award 2003, is recognized for a work that blends theatre, contemporary circus, and cabaret. The shows are packed with a mix of fear and humor, creating a unique energy on stage.

History

El Circo de los Horrores began in 2006 with a pledge to design a distinctive, original circus show that could reengage younger generations with the art. It aimed to refresh the Spanish circus scene. More than 3,000,000 spectators have watched productions like Circus of Horror, Asylum, Cursed Cabaret, Apocalypse, and Bacchanalia across five countries.

Notes of national recognition and international success have followed, marking the company as a bold voice in modern performance art. The ongoing touring schedule keeps returning to the same mosaic of fear and merriment, inviting audiences to confront their own limits while enjoying a spectacle that refuses to be ordinary.
