A TikTok creator known as Danya Milokhin claimed that Russians disliked him after he sang the Ukrainian anthem during a live stream with blogger Artur Babich. This account came from an interview conducted on Madonna Moore’s YouTube channel.

Milokhin explained that in fall 2022, Babich, who hails from Krivoy Rog, sang the Ukrainian anthem in support of Ukraine and then performed the Russian anthem in the same session. He said viewers interrupted the stream so that only the Ukrainian anthem segment would appear.

“After the Russian anthem, I began singing the Ukrainian anthem. I initially thought: Russia. But my friend Babich was beside me, and he is Ukrainian. I apologized, and we decided to sing the Ukrainian anthem together for two lines. People only published the Ukrainian part,” Milokhin stated.

The controversial moment occurred not long after Milokhin had departed Russia for Dubai. He had left the country in the middle of participating in the Ice Age show with figure skater Evgenia Medvedeva, citing fatigue as the reason for quitting the program.

In the video, Babich assists Milokhin with correct Ukrainian pronunciation. The broadcast drew attention from a Russian television host, Olga Skabeeva, who commented that the bridges might have been burned. Subsequently, Vitaly Borodin, a public official tied to security and anti-corruption initiatives, appealed to the Prosecutor General’s Office to declare Milokhin a foreign agent. Another appeal came from Afghan veteran Roman Dzhamaluev, who asked the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Investigative Committee to ban Milokhin from entering Russia.

Images from Moscow appeared on Milokhin’s Instagram in September, though the platform hosted by Meta is banned in Russia. A few days later, Ekaterina Mizulina, a leader at the Secure Internet League, urged the Russian Defense Ministry to draft Milokhin into military service. Following these developments, Milokhin reportedly returned to the UAE from Russia.

Regarding the anthem incident, Milokhin expressed no regret for his actions and noted that he would not have sung the Ukrainian anthem if he had anticipated the consequences. He acknowledged facing a wave of hostility and suggested that the backlash might offend him in some ways.

The influencer also called for an apology for his early exit from the Ice Age show at the start of a new season. When figure skater Ilya Averbukh invited him to rejoin the project, Milokhin claimed that he expected to quit mid-performance. He admitted that a new trick had been practiced before leaving during the night.

Milokhin addressed Konstantin Lvovich, hoping for a chance to make amends for the past. He urged the public to consider a second chance and expressed a desire to justify his actions. He spoke to the Russian people at large, saying he did not understand the reasons for the hostility and arguing that he did not come to harm Russians on behalf of another country.

He concluded with a plea to the Russian populace who harbored resentment, explaining that he was born in Russia, lived there, and sees it as his homeland. He asked if a dialogue might be possible to resolve tensions in the future.
