American actor Robert De Niro offered condolences to rock musician Stas Namin over the death of Namin’s son, Artem Mikoyan. This was reported by TASS, referencing the press service of the Stas Namin Center.
The center noted that other well known film stars joined in the tribute. Among them was documentary filmmaker Jim Brown, who highlighted Mikoyan’s collaborations with renowned Hollywood creators.
Officials also mentioned that Mikoyan pursued painting and participated in significant exhibitions in Russia and abroad. He studied in the film program at New York University and had an internship with De Niro at Trebeco.
Reports stated that on October 19 Mikoyan was at the village of Kryukovo in the Istra district when the deaths occurred. Stas Namin’s 85-year-old mother-in-law Polina Tkachenko and his son were found dead in the same residence. Tkachenko was killed by a chest wound, while Mikoyan sustained multiple stab wounds. Investigators reported no signs of a struggle and that the interior of the home remained undisturbed.
Subsequent updates indicated that investigators were examining the double murder within the Namin family circle. Roman Mikoyan, Stas Namin’s stepson, was detained in connection with the killings of the grandmother and the brother. Roman Mikoyan remained in custody until December 18, 2023.
Earlier statements from Stas Namin denied the involvement of any other family members and described the accusations as unfounded. In a conversation with a media outlet, he referred to the alleged killer as a scumbag who had harmed his grandmother and brother.
Throughout the unfolding case, authorities emphasized careful, evidence-based inquiry while the cultural community watched closely for updates on the investigations and the impact on associated artistic circles. The Stas Namin Center continued to acknowledge the loss and remembered Mikoyan as a multi-talented individual with a footprint in cinema and visual arts.
Public responses highlighted the cross-border connections Mikoyan maintained through his work and exhibitions. Members of the film and music communities in both North America and Europe stressed the importance of honoring his contributions while the investigative process proceeded. Marked attributions reflect statements from the Stas Namin Center, TASS and related cultural institutions.
