The Juan Gil-Albert Institute of Alicante Culture has launched a new edition of its Research Awards and Grants. This year, a total of 49,000 euros will be distributed among all selected proposals. The submission window is now open and will close on April 24.

Aimed at fostering research development in social sciences and humanities within the province, the program also seeks to support complementary experiences to teacher training and the cultivation of investigative attitudes among students and researchers.

Under this call, five research project grants will be awarded, each worth up to 8,000 euros, and three doctoral thesis grants of 1,000 euros each.

In addition, two doctoral thesis prizes will be granted, with a maximum of 2,000 euros each, two awards for master final projects, each up to 500 euros, and two for bachelor final projects as well as two for Vocational Training final projects, with the latter four awards each set at 250 euros.

The organizers note that this year special attention will be given to works about the writer and essayist Juan Gil-Albert in recognition of the 30th anniversary of his death and the 120th anniversary of his birth. There will also be particular consideration of topics related to the province of Alicante’s cultural heritage, including linguistic, literary, humanistic, artistic, and historical facets, as well as the evolution and development of its industrial heritage.

Special Attention

In addition to the general call, new emphasis is placed on works that illuminate the life and thought of Juan Gil-Albert, reflecting on his influence in literature and culture. The program also values scholarship that deepens understanding of Alicante’s cultural assets, from language and literature to industry and historical memory. This approach aims to strengthen local research ecosystems, support scholarly training, and encourage rigorous, high-quality investigations that can inform both academic communities and public discourse about the region.
