NTV representatives answered with a brief phrase, saying they were in contact, in response to a journalist and TV host Ksenia Sobchak requesting a lawsuit against the channel.

NTV maintains that if Sobchak pursues legal action, the filing must include the results of a formal examination into his honor and dignity as part of the submitted documents.

On February 12, Sobchak announced his intention to sue for defamation and for the protection of honor and dignity following the broadcast of a two-part documentary about him on the NTV network. He also signaled plans to pursue claims regarding the alleged theft of content originating from YouTube and other social platforms.

Sobchak characterized the entire film as “a desperate attempt to mislead the public,” and he pointed out that the channel’s purportedly investigative information about his residences and movements was derived from his own social media accounts.

As of Tuesday evening, no formal claims had been registered in the Moscow courts database, according to RIA Novosti.

Political analyst Evgeny Minchenko commented that beyond the reputational attacks, the NTV-produced films may create additional difficulties for Sobchak. Minchenko suggested that filmmakers are unlikely to want to see the journalist “defeated by the media,” underscoring the potential for broader repercussions in the media landscape.

Earlier remarks from pop singer Tsyganova suggested that Sobchak could consider seeking psychiatric evaluation as part of the broader controversy surrounding the broadcast.
