Skyline Benidorm Film Festival unveils poster and announces its eighth edition
The Skyline Benidorm Film Festival returns with an eye-catching poster crafted for the upcoming eighth edition, scheduled to run from April 13 to 20. This year the event includes a special poster by Adrià Ferrer Marquès that pays homage to mid-century cinema, celebrating both classic form and contemporary storytelling as the festival expands its footprint in Fitur for the first time. The poster release signals a refreshed approach for the new edition and a nod to cinema’s enduring influence.
The poster invites viewers into a collage of cinematic moments, blending enduring memories of universal film with the distinctive energy of Benidorm. Ferrer Marquès reimagines vintage poster design from the mid-20th century, employing bold red and black tones to honor the era while centering on a respect for classic cinema. The composition nods to the era’s typographic styles and cinematic silhouettes, inviting audiences to revisit iconic genres through a modern lens.
“Being a fan of classic posters inspired this print,” Ferrer Marquès explains. “The design traces scenes from the mid-20th century cinema, from lean, dramatic horror to the grit of Quinqui and juvenile delinquency narratives, and even the glossy bravado of postwar cinema. The typography mirrors the period, giving the piece a tactile, vintage feel.”

In Ferrer Marquès’s vision, the poster’s key elements extend beyond faces and figures. The architectural line of Benidorm’s skyline anchors the design, linking the festival to its birthplace in the old town. The female filmmaker, positioned centrally, acts as the focal point around which other visual motifs revolve, anchoring the poster’s narrative and connecting the festival to its local identity.
“An essential part of the poster is the interplay of figures with the cityscape,” Ferrer Marquès notes. “The skyline, the buildings, and the local references are part of what gives the festival its name and character.”
