Short films from the Rodeo International Film Festival highlight a diverse slate curated in the town of Rojales last Saturday. The event celebrated a vibrant mix of storytelling and animation that drew attention from local audiences and visiting filmmakers alike.
The Alicante based animated short by Alex Rey continued its winning streak, earning the best short film prize in the official section of the competition. The work titled Plastisphere also secured the best LGBT short film recognition, while Platysphere by Pérez del Campo, a 2019 Goya winner for best documentary short Gaza reality, was honored for its strong environmental message.
Three winners received prizes of three hundred euros and diplomas from the Cultural Council Member, with the ceremony attended by directors Julio Pérez and Alex Rey. This fifth edition drew more than two hundred short films from Spain and abroad, with twenty titles selected for presentation. The selected works were showcased over three outdoor days in the neighborhood venues around the Rodeo caves, following the pattern of previous editions.
