Sergei Ulegin, the Olympic silver medalist from Beijing, urged that a concert by singer Dora in Saratov be canceled, sharing his views on his VKontakte page.
He described a scenario where a bright young performer with pink hair stepped onto the stage, spoke about her work, and was previously unfamiliar to him. This prompted him to look more closely at whether the artist was presenting music that was genuinely new in the landscape. He mentioned discovering tracks with titles like Doradura, Daddy, Barbisize and others as part of his review.
Ulegin framed his stance as a matter of taste and personal judgment. He said he did not want Dora to perform in Saratov. He claimed to have found links suggesting that the singer had called on young people to engage in illegal acts and had criticized SVO.
The athlete argued that Dora’s music could influence the minds of the youth in a negative way. His proposed remedy was to direct attention and opportunities toward patriotic performers who are currently presenting their art on the front lines, guided by values he believes are essential for younger generations.
