A memorial album marking Valeria’s anniversary has found its way onto music platforms, as relayed to socialbites.ca by the representatives of VK Records. The project, named the Second Internet Album, brings together four artists—MONA, Hands Up!, The Limba, and HammAli & Navai—each contributing a track that reimagines Valeria’s works with fresh sonic textures. Earlier, The Limba released a live remix of Valeria’s song You are sad and confirmed that the singer gave her approval for the remix.
The idea behind the EP was to reflect Valeria’s presence on the bigger stage while highlighting artists who excel online and feel a connection to her music. According to Viktor Abramov, the general manager of VK Records, this pairing makes the label’s homage resonate as an online celebration rather than a conventional studio project.
The music world remembers an earlier moment, the First Internet Album from 2000, which featured twelve remixes of Valeria’s songs. Abramov notes that this debut was viewed at the time as a major buzz, signaling a shift in how music could travel over the internet. Back then, artists collaborated remotely to assemble the album, sharing tracks across distances and creating something that felt both modern and experimental for the era. This historical context frames the Second Internet Album as a continuation of that online-first spirit, updated for today’s digital landscape.
