Russian media figure faces backlash over controversial party and ensuing protests

An industry insider known for directing high-profile productions publicly supported blogger and television presenter Nastya Ivleeva after she faced criticism for hosting an event described by some as provocative. The director expressed admiration for Ivleeva, praising her as resilient, creative, and capable of withstanding the backlash that followed the gathering.

The director remarked that even if the event could be labeled rash, the subsequent widespread scrutiny and the leakage of details about the participants were distressing for those involved.

Ivleeva invited guests to a party at a Moscow venue on December 20. The dress code invited attendees to arrive in minimal attire. The event drew sharp criticism from various quarters, and Ivleeva itself was accused of promoting provocative behavior. Among those who spoke out against the gathering were several well-known personalities from entertainment and media.

On December 21, a deputy from the State Duma urged federal agencies including the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Roskomnadzor, and the Ministry of Culture to review the party held at Ivleeva’s Moscow club. The deputy indicated a desire to assess whether the event violated laws related to the propagation of LGBTQ+ content, a discussion that has been politically sensitive within the country.

By December 24, Ivleeva issued a public apology for the nature of the party and pledged to donate the proceeds to charitable causes.

Earlier reports indicated attempts to recover a significant sum as compensation for alleged moral damages linked to the event. The narrative suggested that there were plans to seek one billion rubles in compensation related to the fallout from the controversy.
