RTVE revealed on Friday the plan for selecting Spain’s representative for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, the children’s edition of the famed European music festival. The audition process will unfold in two stages: an initial online phase followed by an in-person casting.

During the first stage, a panel composed of professionals from public institutions will conduct an initial screening of candidates aged 9 to 14 who have registered. The deadline for this stage runs from August 16 to September 15. To participate, young performers must submit a video that showcases both their singing ability and their commentary skills through RTVE.es.

Following the online auditions, the second phase will bring the process to Madrid, where a face-to-face casting will take place at the end of September. The selected artists will be asked to perform a musical repertoire chosen by RTVE, demonstrating stage presence, vocal technique, and interpretive skill before the judges.

Alongside the selection of the Spanish entry, RTVE will manage an internal call to identify the country’s strongest song for the competition. The aim is to determine a compelling national entry that could resonate with audiences across Europe.

The Junior Eurovision Song Contest is organized by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and is scheduled to run from December 5 to December 11 in Yerevan, Armenia. The event brings together junior artists from numerous countries to perform original songs in a family-friendly format, with results decided by a combination of jury and public voting in many editions.

In the recent national and international results, Malena, a 14-year-old contestant from the host country, emerged as the winner of the final national selection in a tightly contested event. The Spanish team’s performance highlighted vocal clarity and an engaging stage presence, earning the top honor among a field that included several promising young talents. Levi’s day, a participant representing another nation, finished fifteenth out of nineteen finalists in the respective competition, illustrating the diverse range of styles and performances seen across the different national selections and the main event.
