Roskomnadzor highlights child content in fanfics and potential Russian platform blocking

Roskomnadzor has identified child pornography in fanfiction tied to the Harry Potter and Star Wars franchises, reported by Vedomosti. The concerns center on material hosted on Our Own Archive, a samizdat-style platform that operates outside mainstream publishing channels. Publishing sources warn that such findings could trigger actions to block access to the Our Own Archive platform within Russia. Roskomnadzor has formally asked the American platform management to remove pornographic fanfictions based on the Harry Potter books and the Star Wars films that appear on the service. A Roskomnadzor representative told Vedomosti that the agency will continue to press for removal and, if the platform does not comply, restricts on Russian access may be imposed. In a related but separate development, the Vladimir Regional Military Prosecutor’s Office previously requested a court order to block a Reddit forum. The same regulatory climate is seen in Russia where access to The Pirate Bay, long known as the world’s largest torrent site, has been blocked.
