Singer Rita Dakota informed her fanbase through a Telegram channel that she has postponed her solo concert in Moscow. The event had been planned for September 10, 2023. The postponement arose in connection with City Day, a holiday that caught the artist by surprise. She did not anticipate the overlap and did not realize the city would be crowded with celebrations on September 10 and 11. Dakota explained that among the crowds would be many performers offering appearances at no charge, while others would be unavailable because of travel plans or festival atmospheres. This mix of factors led her to decide that holding the show on September 10 would risk a low turnout and negatively affect the overall experience for attendees.
“Even if some artists or acts choose to perform for compensation during these days, and even if some collaborations do not go free, there are other segments of the population who are on vacation. And there are those who stay home to avoid the traffic grind, preferring not to spend hours getting to a concert venue on a weekday, only to face additional delays and stress”, the artist explained. Dakota subsequently rescheduled the concert to early October. The cancellation also prompted the event venue to rethink its partnership for the year, resulting in a substantial fine for the singer. She admitted this development was very upsetting.
“The original announcement should have felt like a celebration, but it turned into a moment of vulnerability where the artist found herself wrapped in a blanket, reflecting on the setback and feeling like a major underdog”, Dakota added via her public communications channel. The postponement was treated as a strategic pause to ensure a larger audience and a smoother experience for fans in Canada, the United States, and other markets that follow her tour updates, while preserving the integrity of the show and the artist’s overall brand.”
