regional network

Santa Pola joins the housing networkMaritime Museum in a collaborative move with València, Alicante and Castelló de la Plana. The research and artistic production residency calendars are adjusted for this edition, extending roughly a quarter of the year. Calls invite local residents as well as entrants from other regions, with at least half of proposals originating from or rooted in the Valencian Community.

In this new gathering, four research projects will be selected, two mediation projects will operate in Valencia and Castelló de la Plana, and four artistic production projects will be distributed between Alicante and Santa Pola—two in each location. This residency, now part of the Cultura Resident network through the collaboration between the Museum Consortium of the Valencian Community (CMCV) and the Maritime Museum, centers on a thematic framework: the Mediterranean context and its contemporary challenges.

regional network

New releases of Cultura Resident bring fresh energy to multiple disciplines, supporting new perspectives and voices by expanding a network of creations that contribute to contemporary culture and help shape the region from north to south. The director of the Consortium of Museums and the Center del Carme, José Luis Pérez Pont, notes that the upcoming season will feature ten Housing Culture residences across Castelló, València and Alicante.

The submission window closes on November 24, with registration information available on the Museum Consortium’s website. A jury of independent curators, artists, educators, and cultural-center managers, alongside former Cultura Resident participants, will review proposals. Selected projects will begin development in March 2024. (Cited from Cultura Resident materials)

Cultura Resident, supported by the Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community (CMCV), ranks among the most expansive programs nationwide. It targets professionals engaged in contemporary creation and aims to foster experimentation and innovation in research, cultural mediation, and current artistic production. Projects seeking production support or situated within specific contexts or communities are encouraged to apply.

Artistic production in Alicante and Santa Pola

The call aims to grant creators time, space, and resources to develop unpublished artistic works. In this edition, following the footsteps of Almedijar in 2023 and Bocairent in 2022, Santa Pola joins the network of artistic production residencies. Two residencies will be hosted at the Maritime Museum, while the two Alicante residencies will take place at the Las Cigarreras Cultural Center.

Accommodations are provided from March 1 to May 31, 2024. During this period, selected individuals must reside in the designated context and work from the facilities at the relevant center. The total funding for this call amounts to 35,660 Euros.

Call for cultural mediation in Valencia

Finally, mediation sessions will return to the CCCC in Valencia, where two projects will use contemporary creation as a mediating tool. They will involve citizenship as an active participant in a contemporary, participatory process of creation, activated through mediation aligned with the needs of a specific community.

The total budget for this call is 25,150 Euros. Residences are planned to run from March 1 to July 31, 2024. (Cited from Cultura Resident materials)
