Rappers Face Regulatory Scrutiny in UAE Over Political Remarks

Rapper Oksimiron, described by some sources as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation, may face a ban from performing in Dubai after remarks made at a recent concert in an Arab club. Reports circulating on Telegram channels quote local observers who say the regulatory authorities are reviewing Oksimiron for allegedly inciting ethnic conflict and making public political statements, actions that are restricted in the United Arab Emirates. The case centers on monologues that referenced tribal tensions and spoke about Ukrainians and the historical conflicts between the two nations. If the investigation proceeds, the artist could confront a substantial fine and a prohibition on entering the UAE.

In another development from late 2023, concerts by rapper Morgenstern were prohibited in Dubai. Sources claim the UAE government placed the artist on a blacklist due to his designation as a foreign agent and alleged violations of local bans and laws. The ban, as reported, appeared to be linked to the release of a new interview with journalist Ksenia Sobchak in which she described methods of circumventing Arab restrictions.

Earlier, there was mention of Yuri Shevchuk and DDT planning an international tour that would begin with a concert in Bulgaria, indicating ongoing activity in the regional music scene and the complex interplay between artistry, politics, and regulatory oversight across borders.
