Prosecutors Request Reexamination in Threats Case Involving Leading Surgeon and Spouse
The prosecutor’s office has asked for a re-examination of the case surrounding threats directed at renowned surgeon Timur Khaidarov and his wife Svetlana Silvashi. The review follows new information reported by Life in connection with Shot.
Investigators uncovered that surgeon Alexander Vdovin, who warned the couple that he would expose a supposedly failed hip operation, had previously appeared on federal wanted lists on multiple occasions. This discovery prompted officials to revisit the surrounding allegations and examine potential patterns in Vdovin’s actions.
According to Khaidarov’s account, about six years ago he provided free hip implants for Vdovin, effectively improving the surgeon’s mobility at no cost. In response, Vdovin claimed that the recently treated area began to deteriorate, and he demanded compensation of 10 million rubles from Khaidarov. When his demand was not met, threats against the surgeon’s family escalated.
In turn, Svetlana Silvashi filed a formal complaint alleging that Vdovin had refrained from seeking help from the clinic for years, citing an allegedly unsuccessful surgery. The complaint prompted a broader inquiry into the alleged extortion and threats linked to the dispute between the two medical professionals.
The prosecutor’s office initiated an investigation into extortion and threats and forwarded the case to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Although a criminal case was not opened initially, officials maintained that the denial of the charges was unfounded. The review was ordered to continue after it was revealed that Vdovin had repeatedly appeared on federal wanted lists.
In July, singer Slava publicly criticized Khaidarov for alleged issues with her breast surgery. She claimed that after the procedure she experienced breast asymmetry and unsightly scarring. Khaidarov responded by noting that the singer did not follow post-operative scar-care instructions. Subsequently, more than fifty additional women signed a collective letter opposing the surgeon.
Following these scandals, the financial position of Khaidarov’s clinic showed signs of strain, revealing a deficit of roughly six million rubles in red.
