Jaibo Films, the Alicante-based production company, announced a casting call for a new short film titled Paul’s Life, which marks the directorial debut of Pau Colomina and features a collaboration with Adem Aliaga and Miguel Molina. The project is scheduled to shoot in the Alicante province in June and places a strong emphasis on Valencian language skills for applicants.
The production team has opened a casting process to identify the lead actors and several supporting roles. Compensation is handled through registration with SGK, and proficiency in Valencian is a key requirement alongside suitability for the various character profiles and prior acting experience.
For the leading roles, the search targets men and women aged 30 to 40 who can embody the film’s emotional core. The supporting cast is open to younger talent, with male and female performers not older than 30 years requested.
Paul’s Life unfolds in a setting inspired by the late 1970s and early 1980s, weaving the story of a couple from another era and illustrating how a simple journey can reshape a relationship. The project also marks Colomina’s first foray as an art director and as a filmmaker in the advertising realm, expanding his creative horizons beyond traditional work.
Interest in joining the cast is currently open online through the first casting phase, with a deadline set for Monday, May 29. Prospective performers are invited to submit two recent photos and a video presentation in Valencian, with further details released by the production team. The company also plans a second phase during June, featuring a broader cast including actors with a higher age range, advertised through the producer’s social networks.
The short film, backed by the Valencian Cultural Institute and À Punt Media, will begin principal photography in the Alicante region. The production team is actively scouting suitable locations for the storyline, including service areas and road scenes that will support the narrative pacing and visual style of the piece.
Jaibo Films continues its commitment to nurturing stories from local, younger filmmakers. In parallel, Daniel Turner is advancing through post-production on Saturnis, his debut feature project, underscoring the studio’s mission to elevate provincial talent and bring authentic regional voices to life on screen.
