Six months after Madrid hosted the world premiere, OCO unveils The Show to broad audiences once again, this time with a grand revamp. Audiences will notice fresh costume designs by Juana Martín and an immersive set crafted by renowned visual artist Lita Cabellut, elevating the experience beyond a traditional performance.
The production, long associated with the figure who helped redefine Flamenco on the world stage, remains a bold reimagining. In this iteration, Estrella Morente becomes a permanent member of the ensemble, adding a striking, singular presence to the cast. Morente delivered a single, unforgettable performance that underscored the show’s core: the fusion of passion and artistry that defines the production. Cabellut and Martín renew their collaboration with OCO, each contributing to its evolved identity. Cabellut designed the show’s audiovisual landscape, delivering more than twenty video art sequences projected on a large scale and shaping the overall décor of Ibercaja Delicias Space Cabaret Theater, turning the venue into an immersive arena.
Juana Martín, celebrated as the first Spanish designer to present at Paris Haute Couture Week, returns to create the costumes for the entire cast. Her flamenco-rock concept continues to stun audiences, merging tradition with contemporary edge and leaving spectators spellbound.
For those unfamiliar with OCO, the company offers a philosophy that resists easy description, a union of souls that grows from shared affection within a close-knit family. The show is a fantasy that transcends conventional music, offering a force that reshapes what is possible in both sound and life. It embodies a journey toward understanding and connection, serving as a platform for creative expression. The experience goes beyond performance; it becomes a mode of being that invites exploration, illumination, and a renewed sense of love for music, art, and fellow humans. The message is simple and powerful: love is what matters most.
Following a warmly received engagement at UMusic Hotel Teatro Albéniz last April, the production now moves to Espacio Ibercaja Delicias. Earlier moments that captivated audiences included Estrella Morente’s heartfelt rendition of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah and Belén López’s mesmerizing flamenco solos, both delivered with remarkable precision and emotional intensity. The show has a knack for conjuring moments that keep audiences on their feet, culminating in years of standing ovations that linger long after the final note fades.
On the stage, twenty-three artists merge two seemingly opposing styles into a dynamic exchange of energy. The flamenco lineup features singers like Aroa Fernández and Antonio Carbonell, and dancers including Yiyo, Tete, and Belén López. A rock inflection comes from two iconic Rolling Stones figures, vocalist Bernard Fowler and saxophonist Tim Ries, whose presence broadens the performance’s reach as they reinterpret world-famous melodies. The result is a boundary-smashing collaboration that invites audiences to hear familiar songs through a fresh, cross-genre lens.
Rafa Zafra takes the lead on cuisine as the show’s gastronomy ambassador. His concept blends international flavors with Mediterranean influences and Andalusian tapas, presented in two distinct forms around show times: a pre-show and post-show food truck. Zafra’s warm personality and culinary ideas provide a fitting salute to a production that thrives on bold, original style and a passion that resonates across audiences of all backgrounds. The combination of food, music, and art creates an integrated entertainment experience that lingers in memory long after the final curtain call.
