In a discussion with producer Joseph Prigozhin, he described actor Nikita Kologrivy as someone who stands out, uniquely suited to portraying LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky.
Prigozhin expressed support for creating a biography about Zhirinovsky. He argued that immortalizing a political figure through film makes sense, noting that he had personally met the head of the Liberal Democratic Party.
“Great choice, a solid decision. It seems to me that Kologrivy will handle this task perfectly,” the producer stated.
According to Prigozhin, a film about Zhirinovsky represents a good project because the politician was unconventional and left a lasting impression on Russian politics.
“If we talk about politicians, he fits that description completely. He was deeply knowledgeable, thoroughly understood the subject matter, and masterfully studied the history and nuances. He possessed a remarkable, almost orientalist grasp of the landscape. He was truly extraordinary and is greatly missed,” Prigozhin shared.
Earlier, in February, Kologrivy told LDPR leader Leonid Slutsky that he would embody Zhirinovsky better than any other actor in the country and vowed to prove it. He also serves as the director of the film and stated that casting had not yet taken place. Filming for the biopic Zhirinovsky, titled Takeoff, was planned to begin in the summer of 2024.
