The Moscow Academic Theater of Satire will present the program titled New Year’s Satire Pumpkin, according to the theater’s press office. The announcement highlights a festive season lineup that blends humor with live performance, promising an evening designed to lift spirits during the holiday period.
About a year ago, the theater introduced the Satire Pumpkin series, which quickly became the first holiday shows to sell out. The demand was so strong that additional performances were added, and the creators expanded the concept into multiple versions of Zucchini crafted for various holidays, driven by countless audience requests. Box office lines stretched from morning to evening as eager visitors sought tickets, underscoring the series’ popularity and the audience’s appetite for original, seasonal humor, according to artistic director Sergey Gazarov.
For the New Year’s Eve program, the theater plans a playful nod to the well-loved television hit Kabak 13 Chairs, reimagined for the stage as a holiday centerpiece. The artistic leadership notes that the show will blend improvised acting with dance, vocal performances, and instrumental music, all presented with a light, cheeky touch that reflects the season’s spirit while inviting the audience to participate in the fun.
performances are scheduled at the Satire Theater on December 17, December 29, and January 6. A wide roster of performers is expected to take the stage, including Yuri Vasiliev, Sergei Gazarov, Fyodor Lavrov, Nina Kornienko, Zinaida Matrosova, Natalia Feklenko, Andrei Zenin, Igor Lagutin, Sergei Serov, Angelina Strechina, and many other artists. Organizers teased big surprises in store for casting, hinting at lively collaborations and unexpected guest appearances that could elevate the evenings beyond the script.
Earlier remarks from Vladimir Dolinsky touched on the show’s long-standing appeal, noting that it has resonated with audiences for its clever humor and its knack for delivering holiday cheer with a signature satirical twist. The production team emphasizes that the energy of the performances comes from a combination of sharp dialogue, physical comedy, and a sense of communal celebration that makes each night feel special rather than merely routine.
In keeping with the theater’s tradition, New Year’s Satire Pumpkin aims to create a memory-rich experience, inviting families and friends to share laughs, surprise moments, and a sense of festive camaraderie. The creative team is committed to maintaining the high standard of professionalism that has become associated with the venue while encouraging experimentation and playful spontaneity that audience members have come to expect during the holiday season.
