Pioneer of an artistic movement Nacho Vegas has long stood as one of the most respected figures in Spanish music. His songs give freedom and confession a voice, helping shape a genre that has shifted over time. He no longer feels confined by indie labels or rock tags. His name has grown beyond any need for labels. While he still benefits from his latest album released over a year ago, he uses downtime to share new singles periodically.

existence Worlds still collapsing His latest album continues to carry weight, even though more than a year has passed since its release. Do you think this is a way of contesting the dominance of a fast-moving music industry?

In a world ruled by trends, the landscape hasn’t changed much from Elvis to Bad Bunny. What artists and independent teams can do is resist the market’s relentless pace and carve out their own rhythms and timelines.

It resembles a transition from a 26-track record such as Gold, Saltpeter and Coal to a situation where many listeners expect shorter, more promotional outputs. What drives the length of a record anyway?

We’ve added five more songs to Crumbling Worlds, releasing them as singles since December. Each phase of a project feels like a journey where the route matters more than the distance traveled. Some trips are brisk and busy; others are long and contemplative.

Recently, a new single emerged, abundant and clear, an enveloping piece whose raw lyrics strike a direct note. What deeper meaning do you draw from it beyond the obvious reading?

This is the third single mentioned. It is a love song that travels through pilgrimage, abuse, mud, and pleasure, standing as active resistance to a world that can feel wretched.

He has always questioned the reality around him. Do you maintain that practice on a personal level?

Certainly, every day. The surrounding reality starts from the self, and his gaze questions it, inviting continual inquiry.

Are Nacho Vegas’s impulsive actions those of a friend to today’s scene or something else?

Yes, indeed. The present persona can come off as abrupt, yet it carries a sharper sense of insight.

“Haya is one of the enemies of creation”

Building connections with many listeners over a long period creates thought patterns that aren’t obvious at first glance. Can a listener’s view be shaped by engaging with his work?

Music can reveal clearly what only appears for a moment, and there is no manipulation in it.

Aren’t you ashamed of that?

No. Haya is one of the enemies of creation.

Do you see the musician as a generator of ideas?

Not exactly. What you create matters less than what you convey through it. It can evoke a thousand different feelings, not just opinions, but real emotions.

Yet followers and private media often amplify a certain image. The audience’s judgment tends to magnify the figure. What are your thoughts on how people perceive you?

I’m not overly aware of it, and it isn’t central. What matters most is writing songs with a grounded, steady footing.

Now, after a short tour with intimate showcases in Portugal, he continues a national tour with a date in Alicante. What should the audience anticipate from his live performance?

That anticipation—an exhilarating uncertainty—remains the best concerts have before they begin, and it’s what makes them memorable.
