More awards for MARQ. The Alicante Archaeological Museum has been recognized with the Mundo Clásico 2024 prize, awarded by the Valencia Community SEEC Section of the Spanish Society for Classical Studies, for its educational projects and programs, publications, and instructional guides adapted to different school levels promoted by the CV MARQ Foundation.

The prize jury unanimously praised the foundation’s commitment to defending and disseminating classical culture to society as a whole, with particular emphasis on the educational community. Additionally, this edition honored Dr. Juan José Chao Fernández, a PhD in Classical Philology, along with the group of secondary education teachers of Clásicas de Educación Secundaria who retired last year, and Michel Koven, who received the Ars Brevis Award.

The prize jury, delivered after the SEEC-Comunitat Valenciana members’ assembly held at the Faculty of Geography and History at the University of Valencia, recognized the MARQ Foundation for its projects, educational programs, publications, and teaching guides designed for students from early childhood through secondary education. These resources accompany permanent collections and temporary exhibitions, such as the recent Etruscans, Gladiators, Xi’an Warriors, and the current Dynasties exhibition. The jury also highlighted the quality of the museum’s outreach activities for all audiences, including historical recreations, guided and dramatized tours, teacher training courses, conferences, seminars, and encounters, coordinated by the MARQ Foundation’s Practical Learning, Accessibility, Club Llumiq, and Corporate Social Responsibility units.

Founded in 1954, the Spanish Society for Classical Studies (SEEC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and spreading classical studies in all their facets. It collaborates with national and international institutions that nurture or foster these studies and defends the scientific and cultural interests of the field.

Distinction SICTED

In addition, the CV MARQ Foundation renewed the SICTED Quality Tourism in Destination distinction granted by the State Secretariat for Tourism (SETUR). The Evaluation Committee recognized excellence and ongoing improvement in the museum’s public service, renewing this accreditation through 2025.
