In a conversation with BLITZ+ described as an interview, Lyudmila Porgina revealed plans to establish a museum honoring her late husband, the renowned artist Nikolai Karachentsov. The project would be funded entirely by Porgina herself, who envisions constructing a new residence on a plot in the village of Valentinovka to host the collection.
The actress possesses a substantial assortment of furniture, vases, and chandeliers from Karachentsov gathered from various countries. Her aim is to recreate the living environment that Karachentsov experienced, providing visitors with a tangible sense of his creative world.
She spoke of including vivid portraits and a gift from Volodya Vasiliev, who once painted a cathedral. The intention, she said, is to preserve the atmosphere of Kolya’s house and to create a dedicated corner that reflects his life and work.
Lyudmila Porgina and Nikolai Karachentsov were married in August 1975. Karachentsov passed away on October 26, 2018, leaving behind a lasting legacy in film and theater.
Karachentsov’s filmography features more than 120 credited roles. Among his notable works are Juno and Avos, White Dew, Old Son, Man from Capuchin Boulevard, 12 Chairs, Electronic Adventures, and Treasure Island, works that recently continue to be discussed in retrospectives and fan circles.
In a separate remark from January 2023, Porgina mentioned that Karachentsov had been urged to stay in Hollywood, a decision she described as a moment from his career shaped by opportunities and choices alike.
Earlier in their lives together, Porgina underwent surgery for broken toes, a health note that adds a personal dimension to the couple’s history and how it intersected with public attention.
