The archaeological site of Tossal de Manises in Alicante, specifically in Albufereta, hosts weekend demonstrations. The historical reenactment is curated by the Hispania Romana Cultural Association and the Banco Sabadell Foundation. This MARQ initiative marks its eighth edition and invites the public to learn on site about life and traditions of Roman civilization through the portrayal of daily scenes.
With a maximum capacity of 250 spectators per session, Lucentum Reviviscit 2023 takes place on Saturday, September 30 from 10:30 to 13:00 and 17:00 to 19:30, and on Sunday, October 1 from 10:30 to 13:00. Each session costs three euros; free admission is offered to children up to seven years old. Tickets are available at the on-site MARQ box offices, directly at Lucentum (Tossal de Manises), or through instant ticketing options.
During the event weekend the guided tour service is suspended, and free site visits will not be allowed.
José Lloreta, a member of the Hispania Romana collective, explained that the program will stage family life scenes and recreate military actions, including combat exercises. The production has become a landmark in the MAQ cultural calendar, drawing larger audiences with each edition.

Juan de Dios Navarro, Cultural Deputy, introduced the lectures at the Provincial Council of Alicante, noting that the event will involve about thirty actors and engage diverse audiences across the weekend.
He emphasized the value of presenting these scenes with faithful detail and in an environment reminiscent of two thousand years ago. The aim is to give citizens a living memory of history and to highlight cultural heritage as a foundation for the future. The Alicante community is invited to participate in this engaging initiative.
These moments of historical memory are shared by representatives of the Alicante region, who stress the importance of preserving and experiencing local heritage. This project invites the city to remember its roots and celebrate the continuity of its culture.
José Manuel Fuentes from the Banco Sabadell Foundation stated that the collaboration with MARQ continues to bring Spain’s heritage to citizens and to recreate Roman life for educational and cultural enrichment.
