The singer Larisa Dolina spoke about recent travel restrictions in a candid interview with journalist Liliya Abramova on Tatarka FM, describing the ban on entry to Ukraine and Latvia as a source of sadness.

In the conversation, Dolina mentioned that she continues to maintain an apartment in Jurmala, a coastal town known for its scenic shoreline. The residence is described as a place where the sea is a short, five-minute stroll away.

“The apartment is wonderful. I formed a deep fondness for Jurmala over the years,” Dolina shared. “For many summers I spent nearly all of them there with my children. When Sashka, my grandson, was born, we kept returning for about eleven consecutive summers. Not in America. It makes me very sad,” she added, reflecting on the past routine and the distance from that familiar place now.

During the discussion Dolina also referenced sanctions that had touched her professional life, noting that the Canadian government had placed her on a sanctions list. She downplayed the impact, indicating personal resilience and a focus on what lies ahead.

“I have not been there recently, and I do not intend to go, God willing. I did visit once on tour, but I did not want to risk anyone getting hurt,” the artist explained, emphasizing cautious travel plans and regard for safety.

Earlier in 2018, Dolina was included among individuals deemed as posing a threat to Ukraine’s national security and was thus barred from entering the country. She explained that the sanctions stemmed from her expressed stance on Crimea’s status, stating that she supported the region’s alignment with Russia, arguing that Crimea belongs to the country in her view.

She also commented on her broader sense of justice, noting that she did not retract her position despite the consequences, and that her beliefs about justice remained a driving force in her actions and statements. Dolina has previously spoken about the adversity she faced, including attempting to describe an assault incident and other security concerns that have surrounded her in public life.

Though the circumstances surrounding travel and public safety have shaped her public appearances, Dolina’s reflections reveal a performer who values personal history, family ties, and the places that have left a lasting imprint on her career and life.
