After its premiere at the Sitges International Festival, the Alicante-born director, screenwriter and producer Alberto Evangelio presents Intercanvi, a new short film that will arrive this Thursday in Valencia and compete at the Maniac and FantaElx contests during the eleventh edition, closing this Friday, November 25.

Written and directed by Evangelio, Intercanvi blends the fantastic with the ordinary and approaches a universal theme with a light, optimistic mood: survival.

The production from Beniwood features Maria Caballero (The First Sign, Oblivion), Isabel Requena (Live Twice), Ramon Rodenas (Sea Law) and Pilar Martínez (Smiling Face). The narrative follows a sunrise that sees two houses sharing a single day. Miss Hortensia joins an exchange program between students and senior citizens. Before departure, the group marks the elder woman’s birthday, and as night falls, their true intentions begin to surface.

Intercanvi premiered in the Official Section of the 56th Sitges International Festival and stood out as one of two Spanish shorts chosen for that segment. In recent weeks the film has screened at Fancine, Terrorificamente Cortos, Molins de Rei, Mostra Curtas Noia, and Cortopilar. It has earned recognition as a Goya Awards candidate for its 38th edition and received a Berlanga Premis nomination in the VI edition. [Citation: Sitges International Festival records]

The film will be shown this Thursday in Valencia at 18:30 at ABC Park Cinemas as part of the Maniatic festival, and on Friday in Elche at the Ciutat d’Elx Congress Center Auditorium from 18:00 onward.
