Elena Farga, born in Valencia in 1997, first came into public view as a finalist on Factor X. Her influences span Whitney Houston, Coldplay, Mecano, Amy Winehouse, and classic Disney songs, shaping a voice that resonates across generations.
A few years later, she performed a song that has since become something of a hymn. The Spain women’s national team, reaching the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, earned a momentous victory in Sydney that Sunday. The track, titled Coming, still feels like a prescient gesture today, marking a historic run by the Red Fury with a symbol of unity and pride.
Spain in the World Cup final!
“We have now achieved what we dreamed of for years. We are writing the history of the future” reads a lyric co-written by the Valencian artist while reflecting on friendships and childhood memories.
Elena Farga notes that she had few female role models at the outset, underscoring the importance of what is being achieved now. “We decided to write a song about all that women’s football has accomplished in recent years and what still needs to be done. Those selected—and those who weren’t—are references”, she explains.
“It’s very encouraging”
“It’s incredibly exciting. It’s hard to say whether it gave them a chance, but it certainly encouraged them a great deal. They listened to the song during the semi-finals and performed live after the game, shouting the chorus with every play”, the artist shares.
“Before they left, I visited them in Benidorm and they told me they loved it there. The song is for them, to lift them up and help them feel connected”, Farga adds.
Now she would not reject a last-minute trip to Australia to witness the final. “An experience you’ll never have again in your life. Every time they score, a song plays in the stadium. It’s incredibly gratifying, and I have immense faith in them”, she notes in a discussion with Levante-EMV about Ibérica, the ensemble involved.
Beyond this track, which marks a high point in her recent work, the artist also unveiled new material this summer under the moniker Farga, with a bold and unapologetic energy.
Earlier, just over a year ago, several songs from her first EP with Universal Music Spain shared a similar through-line, telling a continuous story. Among them is the pop-rock piece Huyendo de la Realidad. These songs, while distinct, narrate a cohesive emotional journey.
“This is exactly how I felt at the time. My heart was broken, and music and writing became the way I express it. I always talk about things that happen to me, that belong to me and come from inside. You have to tell the truth: if I don’t believe it, nobody will”, the Valencian singer and composer states.
“It’s a bit like going to therapy”, she confesses. “It’s like sitting down with friends and telling them something that happened to you. I turn that into songs and share what’s inside with the world.”
“artisteo” since childhood
She recalls that she was shy as a child, yet always carried an artistic impulse. She briefly stepped away from theatre but never lost that creative spark, continuing to cultivate her musical voice while pursuing studies in accounting and finance.
She is currently collaborating with other artists and composers, learning and forming valuable friendships along the way. The process is described as a team effort, with roots built from the ground up.
She looks forward to new songs that will bring a different, more modern sound, even if the label remains open. The aim is for the music to flow naturally and authentically.
Reflecting on her career, she takes pride in her experience with Factor X in 2018, yet remains focused on growth. “I didn’t always want to be known for a show, but that is part of where I come from, and it should be used to improve every day”, she asserts.
