Dmitry Pevtsov, a People’s Artist of Russia and a deputy in the State Duma, recently explained the factor behind his wife Olga Drozdova’s departure from the Sovremennik Theater. The remarks were shared in discussions with News.ru.

Pevtsov said that during his time as a legislator he received several invitations to lead different theaters. He chose not to accept any of those offers, stressing a principle about his role in the art world.

“I will not step in to take another person’s place and disrupt their path,” he stated. “I cannot accept positions where I am not invited.”

He added that it is important to go to places where one is needed and to leave where there is no demand for one’s presence.

With that reasoning, Pevtsov explained why he is not affiliated with Lenkom. He also noted that Drozdova decided to part ways with Sovremennik for reasons tied to her own path as an actress.

Earlier, Pevtsov mentioned that following the passing of director Mark Zakharov, the Lenkom Theater experienced a significant shift. He did not elaborate on details beyond acknowledging changes in the theater’s trajectory.

In related discussions, singers reportedly turned down a lucrative project under the direction of Konstantin Bogomolov, highlighting ongoing shifts for artists within contemporary theater and cinema circles.
