Film and audiovisual professionals will share their insights with the public at the fifth edition of Divulgacine, scheduled for Friday and Saturday. The event takes place at the Seneca Space Field in Alicante, and this year the program honors seasoned journalist Yolanda Flores for her long-running program on RNE, which has been on air for more than two decades. Flores will receive the Divulgacine Award on Saturday at 6 p.m. Joining her are prominent figures such as Pepe Nieve, a veteran radio program director; the Clapper Board team from Radio Marca; Juan Zavala and Javier Morales, who directed the documentary Critic about Carlos Boyero; Paula Aranzazu Ruiz, a renowned film critic for Cinemanía; David Marquez, a scriptwriter known for Champions; and Raúl Rodríguez-Romeo, a special effects expert who has contributed to iconic productions including Terminator and Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity. Pilar Alonso, producer and collaborator of DAMA, will participate in two round-table discussions. [citation: Divulgacine organizers]
One of the round tables will explore changes in the distribution of films and television series before and after the rise of the Internet and social networks. The discussion is set for Friday at 18:00 and will continue on Saturday at 17:00, with guests sharing what drew them to cinema and the impact of social media on their careers. They will also reflect on the films that left a lasting impression during adolescence. [citation: Divulgacine organizers]
After the awards ceremony, a new title will be highlighted in the festival lineup: a blue velvet book about films from the 1980s, authored by the festival director Luis Lopez Belda and writer Mariano Sánchez Soler. [citation: Divulgacine organizers]
A fresh addition this year is Friday’s event featuring concert covers or arrangements of songs tied to cinema and television series. Martin Legovich, an Argentinian singer based in Alicante, will perform renditions of tracks that became memorable from television and film, including pieces from notable shows and films that resonate with the festival audience. The organization also prepared a hands-on program called audiovisual junk, a space where teams can register for free and test their knowledge together with an illustrator. Paloma Perez will host a children’s workshop, and Espacio Seneca will host an illustration exhibition on the evolution of audiovisual consumption—from yesterday to today and tomorrow—featuring works by ten artists: Carmen B., Cinta Hosta, Electric Girl, Elena C. Serrano, Greta Bungle, Josh García, Lucía Types, Star Boerboom, Vera Yin Yang, and Veronica Cam. [citation: Divulgacine organizers]
