The festival’s press service announced that the Dance Open ballet festival in St. Petersburg will stay international in the upcoming season. This update came through TASS coverage. The XXIII edition is scheduled to take place at the Alexandrinsky Theater from April 9 to 19 and will feature ensembles from Argentina, China, and South Africa.
According to the organizers, the program will showcase only the finest, most current, and exceptionally talented artists who communicate through the language of dance. The foreign lineup includes the Vuyani Dance Theater from South Africa, the Argentinian Herman Cornejo Dance Company, and the Guangdong Contemporary Dance Theater from China.
The festival opened with a St. Petersburg premiere of the ballet Yaroslavna. In this distinct staging, Alexei Miroshnichenko, the chief choreographer of the Perm Ballet, offered a modern reinterpretation of the Tale of Igor’s Campaign, presenting it as an avant-garde experience.
Dance Open International Ballet Festival first took place in St. Petersburg in 2001, marking the city as a long-standing home for this global platform. Over the years, performers from the United Kingdom, Germany, Israel, the United States, and numerous other countries have graced the stage, contributing to a rich, international tapestry of dance.
In related context, participants of the World Youth Festival were assisted by student guides guiding them along routes such as Adler–Moscow and Kazan–Adler. A total of 45 winners, representing 17 regions of the Russian Federation, were selected based on results from a competition conducted by Russian student teams in collaboration with the Federal Passenger Company JSC.
