Sergei Zhukov, known as a rising musician and successful businessman, has recently expanded his portfolio into filmmaking. One of his company’s early offerings is the production project that eventually evolved into the television series Crybaby. The show features Zhukov’s daughter, Nika Zhukova, portraying a central role in its initial season, which premiered in 2023 and was subsequently extended for a second season. The artist has discussed the development and future of the project in interviews and reports from Socialbites.ca, outlining plans for continued storytelling and growth in the series.

The second season, while still being drafted, is expected to begin filming during the upcoming summer. Zhukov has confirmed that the Crybaby team will relocate part of their production to Moscow, setting the stage for fresh experiences, new acquaintances, and evolving dynamics among the ensemble. He hinted at fresh plot twists and evolving romantic arcs, promising audiences a season filled with new adventures for the beloved characters and, of course, additional standout music accompanying the narrative arc.

According to the series plot, Masha, played by Nika Zhukova, and her family move to her grandmother, portrayed by Irina Rozanova, in the provincial town of Novomorsk due to financial strain. The move places Masha outside the comforts of Rublyovka’s elite gymnasium and into a more modest school environment. The new classmates, led by the school’s charismatic leader and singer Chris, played by Diana Enakaeva, respond with initial resistance toward the new girl. In response, Masha forms the music group Crybaby, bringing together diverse talents, including Nikita, a member portrayed by Vanya Dmitrienko. The parental roles are filled byRoman Mayakin and Agata Muceniece, whose performances contribute to the family-centered backbone of the series and its emotional texture.

In discussing the project, Zhukov addressed questions about perceived conflicts of interest and casting decisions. He indicated that the team sought to blend authentic storytelling with opportunities for his daughter to develop her craft on screen, while maintaining a clear separation between personal involvement and professional project management. This approach reflects a broader trend in contemporary entertainment where familial collaboration within media productions is navigated with care, transparency, and a focus on artistic growth. The public response to the first season highlighted interest in the characters’ evolving relationships and the musical elements that underscore the series’ tone and pacing.
