In St. Petersburg, authorities opened a criminal case involving Oleg Kuvaev, the creator of the animated series Masyanya. This development was reported by TASS, which cited a statement from the press service of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Russian Investigative Committee for the city.

The press service confirmed that a criminal case had been initiated under Article 280.4 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

Prior to this announcement, Kuvaev had addressed rumors about the filing of criminal charges, saying that such reports were not yet confirmed. The clarification came as the public awaited further details from officials.

According to reports, Kuvaev produced a video in which Masyanya addresses Russian military personnel, calling for surrender. The clip was reportedly captured by the Ukrainian side through a website that received support from the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The incident is described as part of information activities surrounding the conflict.

Records indicate that Kuvaev currently resides in Israel.

In March 2022, Roskomnadzor reportedly contacted the owner of the mult.ru portal, requesting the removal of an episode of Masyanya. The ministry described the episode as containing socially significant yet unreliable information about the progression of a military operation intended to protect certain unrecognized territories and to discredit the Russian Armed Forces.

There were previous reports about Maxim Galkin, who has been designated a foreign agent in Russia, with a note that a report had been prepared concerning violations of the foreign agents law.
