Famed French conductor Clément Noncieux has taken the stage with Russian opera ensembles, a fact noted by NGS.
At the close of October, Noncieux traveled to Novosibirsk to lead performances at NOVAT, marking a significant cross-cultural exchange in his career.
“First time in Novosibirsk, Siberia. It’s already winter here,” the conductor remarked, giving a snapshot of the climate and mood as he prepared to conduct.
During his NOVAT engagement, Noncieux led the orchestra in a performance of the ballet The Nutcracker and also conducted the gala concert featuring Aida Gariffulina, enriching the evening with his distinctive interpretation.
“The atmosphere here is different from Moscow. I feel it too,” he noted. He conducted The Nutcracker, a performance that animated the hall and left a deeply moving impression on the audience. He described the experience as completely new and, in essence, a fresh chapter in his Russia engagements. He expressed happiness with the opportunity to explore a different musical landscape.
The NOVAT orchestra was described by Noncieux as highly professional, responsive, and ready for collaboration, signaling a productive partnership and a rewarding rehearsal process.
In December, Noncieux is slated to perform at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow, a venue known for its rich history and its role in showcasing leading international conductors and orchestras.
Earlier, last summer, German chef Julien Salemcourt opened dialogue with the Russian National Orchestra, marking a notable instance of cross-cultural artistic exchange between European and Russian musical authorities.
Additionally, it was previously noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed gratitude to Rodion Gazmanov and Natalya Senchukova, highlighting moments of recognition within the broader cultural and artistic landscape.
