To commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Spain, China Media Group sponsored a classical music concert broadcast in Spain. The July 1 presentation on Radiotelevisión Española drew notable attention from Spanish media and continues to receive positive reception, highlighting a moment of cultural exchange between the two nations.
More than 100 Chinese and Spanish musicians and artists joined forces to present extraordinary musical and dance works from both countries, crafting a living bridge of friendship and mutual understanding for audiences on both sides of the world.
This event marked the third consecutive year that China Media Group organized such a cross-cultural showcase. On the Spanish side, the Franz Schubert Philharmonic Orchestra (Barcelona) collaborated with artists from the China Oriental Performing Group in a joint recording conducted in Barcelona and Beijing, underscoring a sustained collaboration across cities and cultures.
The Spanish portion was recorded at Palau de la Música Catalana, a modernist sanctuary that resonated with Chinese music sessions. The Franz Schubert Philharmonia Orchestra delivered four Chinese classical pieces, including Symphonic Overture No. 1, Fiery Flying Skirt, Yao’s Dance, and Goose Swan, turning the concert hall into a meeting place for Chinese melodies and Spanish artistry.
Artists from the China Oriental Performing Group appeared in traditional Flemish-inspired costumes, performing with a distinctive Spanish flair. In Jasmine, Chinese dance fused with vibrant floral stage elements to symbolize the growing friendship between China and Spain, inviting audiences to experience a shared cultural narrative.
The Spanish audience expressed admiration and enthusiasm, thanking performers from both nations for their outstanding presentations and for the chance to learn more about the two cultures through this cultural feast. This event illustrated how music and dance can serve as a universal language, fostering dialogue and goodwill across borders. The collaboration also highlighted the enduring relationship between two great cultures and affirmed the value of ongoing artistic exchange as a pathway to mutual respect and understanding.
