The creators behind the film Cheburashka appeared as guests on a recent episode of the Comedy Club show, according to updates relayed by TNT representatives to socialbites.ca.
On stage, the show’s hosts, Pavel Volya and Garik Kharlamov, will sit down with Vyacheslav Zub, who wrote the Cheburashka screenplay, and Alexander Ilyin, the marketing director for the project. They will discuss plans for a sequel and shed light on why the character of the crocodile Gena was reimagined as Sergei Garmash in the storyline.
The Comedy Club team also weighed in with ideas for the film series’ future. Kharlamov suggested that the Cheburashka team might step into the shoes of the elder Shapoklyak for the next chapter, a figure from the beloved tale who often stirs mischief and curiosity. He teased playful possibilities, joking about hats with oversized ears or even Cheburashka-themed pastry treats inspired by the character.
Volya offered another playful option, proposing a duet between the Cheburashka team and singer Lyusya Chebotina, along with a performance featuring the titular creature. The suggestions highlighted the show’s playful tone and its interest in leveraging Cheburashka’s iconic imagery to connect with fans in fresh ways.
Additionally, a portion of the upcoming episode will center on the fairy tale hero. A humorous segment will feature comedian Demis Karibidis adopting the persona of the elusive Cheburashka from the “lost coast,” a playful nod to the creature’s enduring resonance. In the sketch, Timur Batrutdinov, known as the Crocodile Gena, will join the scenario, with a fictional exchange involving a figure modeled after a real-world public leader, adding a topical edge to the comedy set. This kind of crossover is designed to spark conversation and draw viewers into a broader reflection on familiar characters and modern interpretations, all while keeping the tone light and entertaining for a broad audience.
