A production company from Alicante, Jaibo Films, has opened a casting call to select the lead actresses for a new short created by Alex Cuéllar and Rafa G. Sánchez, the duo behind the documentary Persona. The project is planned to shoot in Alicante next May.

The new open casting process aims to choose the female lead for the upcoming fiction short directed by the Alicante-based filmmakers. Titled My Personal U, the project explores the impact and risks of artificial intelligence and the ethical questions raised by unregulated use of such technology.

Requirements

For the casting, the producers are seeking women aged 18 to 24 who can convincingly present the appearance of someone between 16 and 18. Preference is given to applicants from Alicante or the surrounding area, reflecting the local dimension of the production and its community connections.

Filming is slated to begin during the first week of May in the city of Alicante, and the role is paid, ensuring a professional opportunity for the selected actress.

Interested candidates should submit the required information via email with full name, height, current headshots and body shots, and a short video presenting themselves to camera (maximum 5MB). If available, a CV or videobook should accompany the submission.

The deadline to apply is April 15.

Award-winning Script

The screenplay for My Personal U has already received an award at the Quartmetratges competition in Quart de Poblet. It presents a dystopian look at the dangers of artificial intelligence and prompts viewers to consider the consequences of creating convincing fake applications using manipulated real images.

Cuéllar notes that the short challenges the idea of relying on endlessly accessible digital tools and invites reflection on how easily reality can be blurred by technology. This project marks the first time Cuéllar and Sánchez collaborate under Jaibo Films, highlighting the company’s growing presence in the regional film scene. Jaibo Films recently earned three awards at the Málaga Film Festival for previous works, including Los tonos mayores by Ingrid Pokropek and Saturno by Alicante-born filmmaker Daniel Tornero, underscoring a track record of recognized storytelling and production quality.
