The head of the Federal Security and Anti-Corruption Project, Vitaly Borodin, has submitted a formal appeal to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia. He requests that investigators examine allegations that the Russian singer Alla Pugacheva provided financial support to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The claim appears in a document reported by TASS, which cites the text of Borodin’s appeal addressed to Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov.
According to the appeal, Borodin became alarmed after Pugacheva, who currently resides in Israel, publicly criticized Russia’s operation in Ukraine. The document urges investigators to assess whether Pugacheva channelled funds to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and to determine if there were any financial transactions connected to her name that could be linked to military support abroad.
Borodin also contends that Pugacheva has aided other artists who left Russia and spoke out against the operation, while allegedly maintaining financial ties that could be viewed as supportive of Western agendas. He notes that the project previously facilitated foreign funding connected to Alla Pugacheva’s activities and claimed associations with Western intelligence services, suggesting a broader network of influence and external support connected to her activities.
The issue extends beyond Pugacheva herself, as Borodin raises questions about whether Kristina Orbakaite, the singer’s daughter, and Nikita Presnyakov, her grandson, have received funds linked to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The appeal requests a thorough financial review to clarify these potential connections and the origins of any resources that could have supported military operations abroad.
These allegations come at a time of heightened scrutiny of cultural figures who reside outside Russia and express critical views on Moscow’s policies. The Prosecutor General’s Office has yet to publicly respond to the request for an official examination, and the matter continues to unfold as investigators review the claims and verify any financial transactions associated with the individuals named in the appeal. The public conversation around this issue highlights how questions of funding, influence, and allegiance intersect with the lives of artists who move between countries and political climates, drawing intense media attention and prompting calls for formal clarification from state authorities.
