After several days in Artenblanc, Valencia, and Castellón, a designer returns to Alicante to complete the third edition of Artenblanc. The next Saturday, May 20, the Ministry of Culture commits to supporting the fashion industry as the event convenes at Casa Mediterráneo. Two designers from different generations and worlds within Alicante will participate: Sara Navarro and Yvan Andreu.
The first designer will present one of the country’s leading shoe designers through a video installation that blends her two passions: footwear and art. The piece opened at 11:00 and continues to unfold, emphasizing a demolition of the shoe creation process. It presents a clock-like, footed sculpture that carries a narrative inside the production process with 64 components comprising a shoe.
Sara Navarro’s installation is complemented by the projection of a series of vintage videos. These images show machines from her family’s business, spanning the 1940s to the 1970s, accompanied by the sounds of factories and machines shaping the era.
In addition, Navarro will give a talk titled Art as Inspiration. Navarro’s collections are displayed at Mubag under the exhibition name Shoes with Artwork from her personal history.
the future of fashion
At 12:15, Yvan Andreu from Elche will discuss The Future in Design, followed by a round table at 1:00 focused on Crafts, the new luxury of Spanish fashion. Participants include designer Juan Carlos Pajares, artisan espadrille brand Naticaro, and exclusive cap and hat company Live Carrion, with designers Felipe Vivas and Manuel Carrión also attending.
The Artenblanc3 podium resumes at 18:00 with a showcase by young designers. The session closes with Yvan Andreu presenting his new Spring-Summer collection titled Face the Fire. His designs feature latex, patent leather, PVC, and denim, balanced by accents of white, black, and navy, with pops of red, orange, and fuchsia.
